ABSENCE PROCEDURES

  • If your student is absent, please provide a parent or doctor's note upon your student's return to school.  Please be sure to state the reason your child missed school. Notes must be turned in within 3 days of the student's return to campus.
  • Absences for family trips, vacations are considered unexcused.
  • This note may be faxed OR emailed OR turned in by the student to the Attendance Office.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD'S FULL LEGAL NAME AND
ID NUMBER (IF KNOWN) IS ON THE NOTE!

We have many students with the same first and last name.

  • If you receive the automated phone call in the evening informing you that your student was marked absent in at least one class, please speak with your student about it.  If you have any questions regarding your student's attendance, please do not hesitate to call the attendance office.

ABSENT vs TARDY
20 MINUTE RULE

Campus practice is if a student misses 20 minutes or more of a class due to either an unexcused tardy, arriving to school late or checking out of school early, they will be marked absent for that class or classes.

If a student arrives to class within 19 minutes without a pass they will be marked tardy. If a student is checked out early by a parent and misses 19 minutes or less of the class, they will be considered present.

Additional questions regarding tardies may be addressed to your student's principal.

For more information regarding Northwest ISD's attendance guidelines please refer to page 25 of the Student Code of Conduct available online.

Attendance Records may be checked online 24 hours a day at:

https://hac.nisdtx.org/homeaccess/default.aspx
or
Eschool PLUS Family App

If you do not have a user name/password to access online attendance,
 please contact the office.

If you see a discrepancy in your attendance, the student should speak to that teacher to resolve the issue.
